Bamboo Bed Sheets for Private Label: A Sourcing Guide for Brands β€” cover image

Sourcing bamboo viscose bed sheets for your own brand? How bamboo differs from cotton, why it stands out as a private-label line, honest labelling rules, and what to ask your manufacturer.

Bamboo sheets have become one of the most searched bedding categories online, and one of the easiest ways for a private-label brand to stand out from a sea of identical white cotton sets. They are also one of the easiest categories to get wrong on labelling. This guide covers both.

What "bamboo sheets" actually are

Almost every bamboo sheet on the market is bamboo viscose (also sold as bamboo rayon or lyocell from bamboo). Bamboo pulp is dissolved and regenerated into a fibre, which is then spun and woven, usually in a sateen or twill weave. The result is not the raw bamboo plant. It is a regenerated cellulose fibre with its own properties.

Royal Mills manufactures bamboo viscose bed sheets for private-label brands, including fitted sheets, flat sheets, pillowcases and full sheet sets.

The cool, silky feel is why bamboo sells so well to hot sleepers. The lower wet strength is why it is a retail product rather than a hotel-laundry product.

Why bamboo works as a private-label line

  • Differentiation. On Amazon and in DTC, bamboo sets compete on feel, colour and packaging, not just thread count.
  • Higher price points. Bamboo sets typically retail above comparable cotton sets.
  • Colour. Viscose takes dye well, so muted, saturated shades such as sage, slate and blush look rich.
  • Gifting appeal. Bamboo works well in premium boxed packaging.

Label it honestly

In the US, the Federal Trade Commission has acted against sellers marketing rayon or viscose made from bamboo simply as "bamboo". It should be labelled as "rayon made from bamboo" or "viscose from bamboo". Other markets have similar fibre-naming rules. Avoid unproven claims such as "antibacterial" unless you hold test evidence for the finished product. Your manufacturer should help you get the fibre content label right.

What to ask your bamboo supplier

  • Is the fabric 100% bamboo viscose, or a blend (for example 60/40 bamboo/cotton)? Get it in writing.
  • What weave and GSM? Sateen around 120–140 GSM is common for sheets.
  • What is the shrinkage after domestic washing, and what care label do you recommend?
  • Is the finished product made at an ISO 9001:2015 and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified facility?
  • Can you provide branded packaging, insert cards and UPC barcodes?

Royal Mills is ISO 9001:2015 and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. Private-label bamboo sheets start at 100 pieces per SKU, or 300 pieces per SKU with Pantone colour matching. Every shipment passes AQL 2.5 pre-shipment inspection. See our bed sheets range for constructions and sizes.

Frequently asked questions

Are bamboo sheets really made from bamboo?

They are made from bamboo pulp regenerated into viscose (rayon) fibre. The fibre comes from bamboo, but it is processed, so most markets require labelling such as "viscose from bamboo" rather than just "bamboo".

Is bamboo viscose better than cotton for bed sheets?

It depends on the customer. Bamboo viscose feels cooler and silkier and drapes well, which suits retail buyers and hot sleepers. Cotton percale is more durable in heavy commercial laundering, which is why hotels prefer it.

What is the MOQ for private-label bamboo sheets?

At Royal Mills, 100 pieces per SKU, or 300 pieces per SKU for Pantone-matched colours.

Can bamboo sheets be OEKO-TEX certified?

Yes. Ask your supplier for their ISO 9001:2015 and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificates, and check the OEKO-TEX number on the OEKO-TEX website. Royal Mills is ISO 9001:2015 and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.

How should bamboo sheets be washed?

Cool to warm wash (30–40Β°C), gentle cycle, no chlorine bleach, and low tumble dry or line dry. Your care label should state this.
